Holy Cross Hospice Bereavement Center

The Holy Cross Bereavement Center is a critical part of the hospital’s family support services, dedicated to helping individuals who have experienced the recent loss of a loved one. This important bereavement service focuses on people dealing with death by providing emotional and practical advice to help them better cope during this challenging time in their lives.

Montgomery Hospice Bereavement Support

Montgomery Hospice bereavement support groups and workshops are open to all who live or work in Montgomery County. The groups provide emotional support and encourage the sharing of personal experiences. Practical issues and concerns are discussed. Educational materials are provided. Montgomery Hospice has at least one experienced, professional counselor as a co-facilitator in each bereavement group discussion or workshop.

This guide was created by Sesame Workshop, the educational organization behind Sesame Street. It explores children's understanding of death and offers information about communicating, ideas for coping together, and ways to move forward with your children after a loss.

Helpful Children's Books

This list from Allina Health recommends children’s books that deal with death and grief. There are suggestions for children of all ages, from preschool to age 12. They also have books for different types of losses, such as the loss of a parent, sibling, grandparent, friend, or pet. With these books, you can start a meaningful conversation with your child and help them understand their feelings
