The following checklist will help you create your personalized plan.

What to consider in advance:

 

When considering funeral services

  • Select final disposition: burial or cremation.
  • Select a casket, or cremation container and urn.
  • Select a cemetery and purchase property, if burial of casket or urn.
  • Select photographs and memorabilia to display.
  • Consider customs, traditions, or religious rites important to you and your family.
  • Select locations and types of services.
  • Select music and hymns.
  • Select floral arrangements.
  • Select clothing.
  • Arrange transportation for your family.

Death Notice (Obituary)

  • Gather personal information including list of survivors.
  • Select a charity where to direct donations, if desired.
  • Decide where to publish (local or out-of-town newspaper, or simply on www.CollinsFuneralHome.com)
  • Photograph to be published, if desired.


Participants in funeral services

  • Select your preference of an officiant (clergy) to preside over the service.
  • Select musicians (organist, pianist, bagpiper, etc…)
  • Select vocalist, soloist, cantor
  • Select pallbearers - traditionally family or friends.
  • Choose friends or family members to read from scripture or offer a remembrance.
