Dear Client Families and Friends of Collins Funeral Home:

Collins Funeral Home is OPEN - here to serve

Effective immediately, Collins Funeral Home is temporarily restricting access for all services to no more than 10 (ten) persons from the immediate family of the deceased.  Given the ongoing and developing worldwide spread of COVID-19, and in conjunction with advice from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and local government resolutions, we are taking this extraordinary measure to mitigate the risk of further spreading this virus among our client families, their guests and our dedicated staff.

Important details to know regarding this temporary modification of our operations:

  1. Collins Funeral Home is OPEN – we are here and will continue to serve your family in your time of need. Simply call us at 301-593-9500 and we can help.
  2. Funeral services and the vital function that Collins Funeral Home performs in our community will go on as planned and will continue to be performed throughout this extraordinary period of time.
  3. We are asking all visitors to our facility to pull into our front driveway and call us at our main office number - as much as possible we prefer to come out to your car, and utilizing the required social distancing and personal protection protocols, we will be able to assist you.
  4. In compliance of the mandated social distancing we are utilizing our online funeral planning form along with phone and email correspondence to proceed with all the necesary funeral arrangements. You may also visit our funeral planning checklist for more information.
  5. Collins Funeral Home has increased our already vigilant cleaning schedules to add more frequent disinfecting of surfaces.
  6. We ask that anyone, even immediate family members, with fever (temperature above 100.4F) and/or symptoms of acute respiratory illness (congestion, runny nose, cough, sore throat, etc.) DO NOT enter Collins Funeral Home property.
  7. In order to protect ourselves, the dedicated staff of Collins Funeral Home always takes appropriate universal precautions when respectfully handling remains of deceased persons. During this time of an uncontrolled worldwide pandemic, our staff is instructed to take extraordinary universal precautions to increase measures that safeguard ourselves, other healthcare professionals, and grieving family members.
  8. Please continue to reach out to our families in their time of need by utilizing the "tribute wall" feature of each individual family obituary.
