Vincent LaRue Smith (age 45)

On May 3, 2017, beloved son, devoted father and loving partner, Vincent LaRue Smith passed away at just 45 years old due to complications from Crohn’s disease.  Born on May 28, 1971 to Ella Smith and the late Clyde LaRue Smith. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his son Cameron LaRue Smith, brother Robert Douglas Smith, devoted partner Mary Gonzales, nephew Langston Smith, niece Zasu Smith, Aunt Mary and Uncle John Turner, stepchildren Mikayla and Milton Fleming, former wife Dianna Davis, a host of cousins and a multitude of dear friends.  His services will be held at the Washington DC stake center, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints at 10000 Stoneybrooke Drive in Kensington, Maryland on Friday, May 12.   The viewing will begin at 10:00 am with funeral services to follow at 11:00 am.

Despite having Crohn’s since he was 10, Vincent lived a very productive and active life.  An avid Boy Scout, he also lettered in swimming, baseball, wrestling and football at Wheaton High School graduating in 1989.  He went on to attain a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry at James Madison University in 1993 and then a Master in Business Administration from the University of Maryland in 2013.  He found great joy spending time with his son, coaching youth football, attending concerts, trying different cuisine and traveling with Mary.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Crohn’s Colitis foundation.  The family greatly appreciates the generous response to the “go fund me” account in his name.  Your kindness and generosity has enabled a proper goodbye to this amazing man.
