On Wednesday, May 27, 2009, John Erwin Hiland, Jr. , PhD., of Silver Spring, MD. Beloved husband of Iona B. Hiland; father of Douglas Hiland and the late Arthur Scot Hiland; step father of Jacqueline D. Lewis (William) and the late Gregory B. Coverdale (Barbara); brother of Robert Hiland. Also survived by seven grandchildren, Clarence, Cindy, Christopher, Gregory, Jr., Kyle, Jacob and Amy and seven great-grandchildren, Madison, Ronin, Benjamin, Mejarai, Jacob, Michael and Anna. Relatives and friends may call at COLLINS FUNERAL HOME, 500 University Blvd., West, Silver Spring, MD, Sunday, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., where service will be held on Monday, June 1, at 11 a .m.
