EVELYN W. CLARKE (Age 100)

Of Takoma Park, MD passed away January 30, 2010. Her husband, Edwin, died in 1952 and her son, James, died in 2005. She leaves behind her daughter, Shirley Keller and son-in-law, Robert of Rockville, MD, her daughter-in-law, Eleanor Clarke, of Manassas, VA., her grandchildren, Susan, Bonnie, James, Donna, Robert and Jennifer, seven great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. She was born in Ashland, VA on May 2, 1909 and moved to Washington, DC at the age of 19 to attend Washington School for Secretaries. She and her husband owned and operated Ed’s Diner in Northeast Washington, DC until the late 1940’s. She retired as Office Manager from Capitol City Real Estate in the mid 1970’s. She was an active member of the Memorial United Methodist Church of Silver Spring, MD until a few years ago. Relatives and friends may call at Collins Funeral Home, 500 University Boulevard West, Silver Spring, MD on Wednesday, February 3 from 10 to 11 a.m., with funeral service at 11 a.m. Interment Ft.
